NORTHSIDE OFFERS MRI FOR BREAST IMPLANT RUPTURE
Northside Hospital now offers MRI to detect ruptures in silicone gel-filled breast implants. The service is available at Northside Hospital-Atlanta, Northside/Johns Creek Imaging and Northside/Alpharetta Imaging.
The FDA recently approved the marketing of silicone gel-filled breast implants made by two companies for breast reconstruction in women of all ages and breast augmentation in women ages 22 and older. The FDA recommends that women with these implants receive regular screening MRI examinations over their lifetime to determine whether silent rupture of the implants has occurred. Woman should have their first MRI three years after the initial implant surgery and every two years thereafter.
